Our Non Food products
We have a small section of non-food items that help you get a little closer to living a zero-waste life. These include; toiletries, cleaning products, cloth sandwich wraps, bamboo cutlery, lunch tiffins, metal straws, mooncups, washable feminine care, wooden toothbrushes, canvas bags, bulk grocery bags, mason jars, tea caddies, tea filters and some of our favourite books to educate and inspire you on your zero-waste journey. We had great fun researching the non-food items and discovered a whole bunch of innovative, earth conscious companies that impressed us with their ideas. Here are some snippets of information to show you why we are proud to stock their products.
+ Our reusable sandwich wraps are handmade by the inmates at Kilmarnock Prison, Scotland. Having this project for the inmates to do during their workshop hours gives them a chance of learning a new skill, earning some money and gaining a qualification, all of which helps with their rehabilitation and hopefully improves their chances of employment upon their release…and of course eliminates the need for wasteful cling film and tinfoil around your lunch!
+ Eco Femme Reusable Sanitary Pads A range of washable sanitary pads made by a community project in India. Eco Femme are given a £1 donation for every pad sold in the UK, which goes towards funding free reuseable sanitary pads for girls in India, who otherwise are unable to attend school during their periods. The project provides work for the adult women, and through the ‘pad for pad’ programme, accessibility to education for teenage girls.
+ Our toothbrush range is supplied by Hydrophil, a German company that ‘are in love with water’ (the word hydrophilic comes from Greek and means: water loving) . They believe ‘we all need water- this wonderful resource- to live, every living being arises from a drop of water. To have future generations profit from our water we want to use, domesticate and pollute as little water as possible.’ Therefore all Hydrophils products are water—neutral, vegan and fair trade.
+ Our soap is handmade by Emma, right here in Devon. Free from palm oil and harsh chemicals such as Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl Parabens, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (SLS’s & SLR’s), Petroleum, and synthetic colours and fragrances. Every business decision made, from manufacturing, waste and deliveries are made with an environmental sustainable conscience. The product is innovative with its packaging too; each bar of soap is wrapped in organic, fair trade cotton which can be returned or saved and stitched into a new item! Customers in the past have created bunting, dolls clothes and aprons. Also the label is printed on compostable paper with plant-based inks.
+ In 10 years the average woman will use 3600 tampons or pads, that’s a lot of waste! Using an Organicup eliminates toxic waste from landfill and gives you a reusable, chemical free alternative that’s free from glue, bleach, perfume, chlorine and lotion, making it healthier for you and the planet. Organicup also consciously designed their packaging; printing the instructions on the inside of the box, eliminating the need for a leaflet!
